Today, we are delighted to present Nathalie, winner of the ‘Maisons de France by Airbnb’ contest for the Pays de la Loire region.

Nathalie is the proud owner of a traditional farmhouse, known as a longère, in the small village of Maillezais, which is famous for its cathedral ruins. Her home was chose by thousands of voters as the most iconic listings in the Pays de la Loire region.

Last week, members of the Airbnb team travelled to Nantes to award the celebratory plaque of ‘Maisons de France’ to Nathalie.

The plaque was awarded during an Airbnb host meet-up in Nantes, held at Startup Palace, an amazing co-working space and startup incubator. Almost 100 hosts on Airbnb came together in Nantes, for a night of networking, learning, and exchanging with fellow home sharers.

On receiving her award, Nathalie said:

“I’m really very proud to become the ambassador of my region. People are genuinely interested in my home, which I have refurbished with my own hands using traditional renovation techniques. Airbnb has changed the way I share my home; everything is simple and intuitive, which leaves enough space to enjoy time with my guests!”

Emmanuel Marill, Airbnb Country Manager in France and born and raised in Nantes, said:

“As a Nantais myself, I was very touched by the warm welcome of our host community. They shared personal stories and exchanged the great experiences they provide to guests. Engaging with our host community is key, as they attract new guests to the region, provide unique experiences and spread benefits beyond tourist hotspots to more families, communities, local businesses and local historical and cultural sites.”
